10 Expert Predictions on AI & Marketing

In the blink of an eye, GenAI —  a term swiftly becoming a mainstay in the lexicon of tech enthusiasts and marketers —  has revolutionized the world.

With 2024 just around the bend, I wanted to know what to expect as AI and marketing advance. I asked my fellow marketers — those who are immersed in all areas of AI — for their predictions of AI’s impact on marketing.

You can find the top 10 predictions at Medium.

AI Predictions From Andreessen Horowitz

If you want to see what’s coming, the Andreessen Horowitz 2024 prediction list is a good place to start. They have 40+ predictions from analysts immersed in AI. Here are a few I find the most interesting for marketers:

  1. AI-managed CRM: sales reps won’t need to input information; AI will pull it from calendar invites, video recordings, and meeting transcripts.

  2. AI Integrated workflows: No more cutting and pasting and toggling between platforms. You’ll find AI built into the tools you use every day.

  3. AI customer journeys: Marketers will build immersive and interactive customer journeys personalized for each prospect or customer.

  4. Voice-first apps: Anyone looking for answers will tap a button and ask AI for the answer - no typing or searching required.

  5. Editable creative: AI image and video generation platforms will fine-tune their editing capabilities so users have more control over the final outputs.

Gartner’s 5 Predictions for Marketing and AI

Gartner has five pretty bold predictions for marketing and AI in the coming years.

No. 1: By 2025, a perceived decay in the quality of social media sites will push 50% of consumers to limit their use of major platforms significantly.

No. 2: By 2026, 80% of creative talent will use GenAI daily, allowing for more strategic work, resulting in increased spending on creative.

No. 3: By 2027, 20% of brands will lean into positioning and differentiation predicated on the absence of AI in their business and products.

No. 4: By 2028, brands will see their organic site traffic decrease by 50% or more as consumers embrace GenAI-powered search.

No. 5: By 2026, 60% of CMOs will adopt measures such as content authenticity technology, enhanced monitoring, and brand-endorsed user-generated content to protect their brands from widespread deception unleashed by GenAI.

Bard vs GPT-4

Ars Technica pitted the new Gemini-powered Bard against Chat GPT-4 in a number of different scenarios, from creating original dad jokes to writing code and summarizing articles.

The winner? In almost every task: GPT-4.

There were a few tasks Bard performed better, but GPT is definitely the more well-rounded AI.

Here’s the full test and review.
